Spending lots of time in the suburbs really makes me appreciate my apartment in the city. Even though I still not so secretly love the suburbs. Mostly for shopping and giving my dogs a place to run around.

In other news, February is fucking me over, big time. I have work constantly and cannot keep up. But, my job is sweet so every time I want to cry/complain, I just think about how because of HP, I'm going to Ireland for free in a month.

I cannot wait until it is warm again so I can take Sequoia out on trail instead of riding around in the dumb barn. Also, I might be buying a new horse named Dr. Pepper. It was his racing name.

The new place is coming along fabulously. As I've told a few people, I feel like an adult now because I finally have air conditioning and a dishwasher! The place is technically smaller than our last place but the layout is much better; we have two levels and closets and kitchen drawers!

I am working this week at the hotel. It seems kind of weird being back here but it is easy money and I'm glad to help my old manager out. Plus, working here allows me to keep the sweet travel discounts that comes with working here.

Scott and I are going to New Orleans on Tuesday. We will be there for 5 days and plan on doing lots of fun and relaxing things. I am kind of regretting choosing a really hot and humid place in the summer, but hopefully it will still be nice.

Time for free yogurt.

So, the funniest thing is, I taught statistics to my AP Psych kids this week. For anyone that knows me, this is hilarious. But overall, I think I did a good job and I didn't completely confuse anyone or majorly fuck anything up, so that's good.

I stayed home sick yesterday. I have been sicker than I have been, probably since being at EIU (where I was sick every other week).
I am super excited to go to the Renegade Craft Fair today that is taking place on Division between Damen and Wood. This is going to be right near my new apartment! Looking at the vendors that are going to be there, I am excited to see some stuff that I know will be awesome and some stuff that I haven't seen before. If you get a chance to go, you should.
Scott and I got finally found a place! As most of you know, I am not the happiest about renting but with what happened with my job last year, I am not going to potentially screw myself by buying something and then finding out that I have to work at the hotel and sub next year.

Things that I like about this apartment:

- It has a backyard for the dogs
- There is only one other unit (girls) that are living above us
- It has 2 bedrooms
- It has a HUGE dining room with a hutch
- Decently sized living room
- First floor, making it easier to take said dogs out at 5 am in the winter
- At Damen and Division. This is probably the part I am most excited for. We actually found a place in our price range in this area (a suprise to both of us). Being off of Division is awesome...you can walk anywhere and we are just a little bit south of trendy/hipster central (which I don't totally reject) at North/Damen/Milwaukee. Scott is SUPER stoked to live in this area.
- Close to the blue line for Scott
- Close to the highway for me
- TONS of closet space - 2 walk-in closets and a fairly big closet in the main living area
- Busy area but quieter neighborhood street

Scott and I signed the lease yesterday and walked up and down Division for a bit. There are so many cute restaurants and he totally fell in love with this chocolate place Coco Rouge. His drink was this insanely thick chocolate cherry drink that was out of control. We also bought this awesome print from Renegade and I am excited to get it framed and put it up with the other awesome art that we have.

We officially move in November 1, but are probably going to be able to get in there sooner to paint and move the bigger stuff in.

I hate moving and we both have SO MUCH CRAP to move into this place. I am so crazy busy with school that whenever I even think about moving I get overwhelmed. At least I will be much closer to work, as it took me nearly THREE HOURS to get home from Highland Park on Friday. I can't even imagine what traffic would be like when there is snow on the ground.

Time to go to sleep. Peace.

christmas was fun. zoe and i went over to scott's parent's house in the morning and opened gifts with them. ONE OF MY GIFTS FROM THEM WAS A DVD CAMCORDER. i am very excited. figuring out how to work it is what i am doing tonight.

after that, my family opened presents and ate. scott and i then went to oak park to hang out with his family and play fake trivial pursuit.

after getting home, mark and liz came over and we hung out and exchanged presents. one of mark's presents for the four of us is pretty rad - dinner and tickets to the smoking popes show on saturday. i am excited, as i like that band and i like hanging out with them very much. mark/spitalfield leave for austrailia on the 6th and it seems that just when we are getting used to having him home, he has to go again. at least when he IS home we get some super sweet hang outs in.

scott and i celebrated our NINTH christmas together this year. holy cow, that is almost 10 years. this is both crazy and unbelievable to me. he got me some very thoughtful items and although he had to work in the morning (and all day christmas eve) it was nice spending some time together on christmas.

i just got back from hanging out with people that i have not seen in a very long time.

amy, rachel, dave, and hobart - i miss being around you.

i go back to school one week from today.

FRIDAY (Again)

this past week has been pretty sweet. on sunday i got to hang out with laura after work. we went and got food, went to borders, and just generally hung out. i miss hanging out with her on a regular basis and always have a lot of fun when we are together. hopefully we will be able to hang out on a more consistent/regular basis once i am done with school for the summer.

tuesday was my last day with the seniors. we had parties in all of my classes and watched arrested development.

wednesday was the honors assembly. BORRRRRRIINNNGGG.

last night i went to sleep around 3am and woke up this morning at 5am to bake this breakfast casserole for a BEFORE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT WEDDING SHOWER for this girl getting married. i like how it was supposed to start at 6:45 and i am the only one there with all of my stuff and no one shows up until 7. SWEET PARTY. oh wait, worst idea ever.

i have only my U.S. classes in the morning and then 2 people in each of my afternoon classes. it rules.

tonight i am hanging out with scott's p's + the zimmerman's + lindsay.

final exams start next week.

For the next three days, I am getting paid to come to school and get lots of my own work/lesson planning done. I hope to have planned through the rest of the year when I'm done with it. the kids are all act and psae testing and i was lucky enough not to get a proctoring assignment. so that means lots of free time/no homework for me!

yesterday i visited meg and owen right after school. he sure is cute. but what is REALLY cute is how ryan interacts with him. i stayed for a couple of hours and actually didn't feel really sick from the cats until right before i was leaving. i came home, took some allergy medicine and made the mistake of lying down. i fell asleep around 6:30, woke up at 9:30, went to my bed with zoe, and fell back asleep until 11. i then woke up, took a shower and finished watching arrested development, got tucked in and fell back asleep until 6:30...latest sleeping time ever. so essentially, i slept for 11 hours last night and i can't really say i feel a whole lot better today.

i need to do a whole lot of shit before grad school and i'm already starting to get overwhelmed. i am looking at going to USC, UCLA, or UC Berkley. California, here I come! For real...kind of scary but should be exciting when the time gets here. That is, if my math abilities can help me pass the GRE/GMAT...

time to waste hours elseware...

it's pretty sweet to have close friends that are complete sneaks. especially when it is in couple form. ESPECIALLY when it is about something really dumb. i've had to deal with this shit before with people/couples and i just thought i was past all that in my life. let's hear is for vague city....more details to come on THIS SWEET DRAMA.

in other news, my sidekick is dead. it just stopped working. i have been waiting 4 months for this day and it finally came yesterday. i was scared, as i got it for free from an online dealer with no warranty. but i waited over an hour at t-mobile and the guy tested it and (yes it is really dead) gave me a loaner and it IS under warranty and i am GETTING A NEW SIDEKICK. best news ever.

i am already tired of dealing with lazy seniors every single day in my classes. it is a struggle to get them to do anything that doesn't involve watching a movie and i can't imagine what it's going to be like when they have merely days left and not 5 weeks.

my mom and sister got home from florida yesterday, tan and happy.

my brother comes home today. i am supposed to work at the hotel but i am blowing them off because i am such a badass.

it is nice outside and since the pool is not open yet, i think i might find a hotel pool to raid with friendszz.
